World Pediatric Bone and Joint Day occur every October 19. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, more than 126 million Americans are impacted by musculoskeletal conditions. Many cases are brought on by obesity developed during childhood. World Pediatric Bone and Joint Day highlight obesity, screening, and prevention. The day also looks at symptoms, treatment, and economic impact.

Kids and teens suffering from obesity are at a much higher risk of developing bone and joint problems. Health care providers, parents and patients should look for the following problems, as finding them early allows for better treatment and may prevent lifelong problems that can interfere with the comfort and the ability to lead an active life: Pain in the Back or Hips, Bowed Legs and Knock Knees.
