About
As a therapist I understand that the individual is the expert of his or her own life, and I try to foster an environment to help nurture client’s ability to develop skills to navigate challenges, foster client insight and awareness, and develop client resilience. I have experience working with adult clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. I have special interest in working with a range of mental health conditions including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma-related disorders, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. I have special interests in working with first responders, young adults dealing with life transitions, trauma, substance dependence and co-occurring disorders, social anxiety, anger management, and sexual addictions.
I am excited to work with new people seeking help towards well-being that is transformational and provides positive outcomes. If you are feeling alone or overwhelmed with trauma/stress/grief or other difficulties, then please talk with someone as you are not alone. My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in working in partnership with clients to utilize their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. I also realize how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being including their physical health, support systems (family, friends, etc.), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC), and Certified Anger Management Specialist-II (CAMS-II) in Texas. I utilize an integrative approach with evidence-based models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Mindfulness techniques. I received an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Houston, Master of Arts in Criminology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and a Master of Education-Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University. I have worked in correctional settings, online platforms, and in a private practice.
