Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) is a fully taxed, not-for-profit company that has served its customers since 1933 by offering health insurance at a competitive price. Blue Cross NC serves the people of North Carolina by supporting community organizations, programs and events that promote good health. Our purpose is to make health care better for all.

Blue Cross NC is the largest health insurer in the state with more than 4,800 employees and more than 3.8 million members, including approximately one million served on behalf of other Blue Plans. Our headquarters is in Durham, and we also have operations in Winston-Salem.

Blue Cross NC offers the largest provider network of any health insurer in North Carolina. With more hospitals and providers than our competitors, our network size gives us a competitive advantage in the North Carolina health care marketplace.
